Roses are a family affair for Meg Lee of The Tamar Valley Rose Shop, the city retail base of Tamar Valley Roses.
Started by Meg's parents Peter and Helen Lee in 1978, Tamar Valley Roses began life as flower growers and wholesalers based in Rosevears. Originally growing a number of flower crops, roses soon became a speciality. Meg returned to the family fold after completing her four year floristry apprenticeship and launched the retail arm of the business, while brother Andrew acts as Farm Manager.
Being part of a family business means being able to spend more quality time together as a family, whether it be planting roses at the farm, preparing bunches or wiring roses for one of the many weddings that Tamar Valley Roses supply. "...Whether in good times or bad we're all working together as a team for the betterment of the business and each other,' says Meg.
The current St John Street store has long been a convenient stop for those looking for the perfect gift for loved ones, with Mother's Day one of the shop's busiest of the year.
Chrysanthemums are traditionally the flower to gift on Mother's Day, however Meg is seeing more and more people choosing to opt for blooms like tulips, gerberas and lillies. For Meg though, you can't go past roses... available in a multitude of colours "...with so many varieties available we can find something which is suitable for each and every person."
Also available in store are a beautiful range of gift wrapped indoor plants, succulents and gifts.
Customers love browsing the range in store and selecting a bunch or putting together their own, while online ordering and same day local delivery make it easier than ever to say it with flowers, especially for those who are in need of a last minute gift.
Sweetbrew because I love their pastries!
Inside Home and Gifts... because they have great gifts, clothes, cards and the staff are so friendly and always remember you.
Catching up with all my family, visiting my mum and spending time with her and just taking the time to appreciate what we have all achieved as a family business.
It is home! It's the best feeling to walk down the street and see people you know.
