A shared passion for interiors and beautiful, unique items is what drives Lindi and daughter Chelsea of Hope & Me. Conceived as a store for all things home, baby, lifestyle and design, Hope & Me has been operating for over a decade, and is much loved by its customers for its beautifully curated collection of Australian and New Zealand made goods.
Working every day alongside her daughter is a joy for Lindi, who enjoys the different dimension that Chelsea brings to the business, “…Her social media skills and a younger perspective is a great mix. We are constantly bouncing ideas around… it's exciting that we can do this together!"
For Chelsea, experience in retail and interiors started at a young age. From the age of 13, she would accompany her Mum in store and on buying trips. Chelsea now works full time in the business and with her keen eye for detail and natural skill at creating beautiful interior spaces, the Hope & Me brand has diversified into Hope & Me Interiors - providing property and interior styling services.
Mother and daughter obviously share a strong bond, a phenomenon Lindi jokingly likens to "basically being inside each other’s heads!” Lindi adds, “Even though Chelsea and I don't live together and very rarely shop for clothes together, we often turn up to work dressed almost exactly the same!"
Although their bricks and mortar store in the Quadrant Mall is temporarily closed in order to prevent spread of the virus, the lead up to Mother’s Day has been a busy one, thanks in part to a strong web and social media presence paired with a loyal customer base. The duo have adapted to the evolving situation and offer free local delivery and in store pickup of items purchased online, making it an easy process for customers to purchase gifts.
“For Mother's Day this year we've got so many beautiful handmade vases (and we recommend filling them with some pretty florals from Murphy Bloom!), hydrating handcreams from Melbourne and New Zealand, the most amazing smelling handpoured soy candles, a great range of unique books and delicious French perfumes!”
Lindi is a passionate advocate for local business and is grateful for the support of her customers, “…I am very confident that we will come out the other side of this situation with a new sense of pride... it will be the support of the locals that will have pulled us through and as a community we should be extremely proud of that!”
